IndEPENDENT Evaluations

Options For Youth Charter Schools contracts with  Dr. James Catterall, Professor of Education, UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, to provide outside, yearly evaluations of the Options For Youth programs. These independent evaluations assist in keeping the programs accountable, based on the feedback provided by our students, parents, and teachers. The evaluations are based on the pre- and post-testing of our students on norm-referenced tests, on state STAR test results, and on individual interviews with students, parents, and teachers. From this information, Dr. Catterall is able to offer recommendations on how to improve the educational delivery to our students. Information from these evaluations is also used in the formation of our action plans or program accreditation.
